Elgin Bridge, Railway bridge in Barabanki district, India.

The Elgin Bridge extends 3,695 feet across the meeting point of the Ghaghara and Sharda rivers, featuring broad gauge railway tracks for transportation.

The bridge construction began in 1894 and reached completion in 1896, with an official opening ceremony held on December 18 of that year.

The structure bears the name of Lord Elgin, who held the position of Governor-General of India from March 1862 to November 1863.

The bridge includes a water level recording station that monitors flood conditions, triggering alerts when water levels exceed 347 feet.

In 2010, a parallel bridge opened during the expansion of the Lucknow-Gorakhpur railway line, doubling the transportation capacity across the rivers.
