Pritisangam

Pritisangam is a protected area in Karad where the Krishna and Koyna rivers meet and form a natural riverside landscape. The location features a maintained garden with outdoor spaces and historical structures including tall minarets and an old well.

The area developed as a protected zone around the river confluence, which has been significant to the region for centuries. The site holds particular historical importance through the Samadhi memorial of Yashwantrao Chavan, Maharashtra's first Chief Minister.

The Krishnamai Temple dedicated to the local protector goddess draws visitors for religious festivals and daily worship throughout the year. The riverside ghat nearby serves as a gathering place where the community marks celebrations and conducts pilgrimages during holy seasons.

The site can be reached from nearby cities like Satara, Pune, and Kolhapur with good road connections available. The grounds are flat and accessible with paths for walking and relaxing by the riverbank.

The Krishna and Koyna rivers approach from the front before turning to create a single watercourse, an unusual river pattern. An old well called Nakatya Rawlyachi Vihir stands on the grounds and shows how water was managed in earlier times.
