Buddha Smriti Park, Buddhist memorial park on Frazer Road, Patna, India.
Buddha Smriti Park is a 22-acre green space centered on the Patliputra Karuna Stupa, a towering structure of about 200 feet that holds Buddha's ashes. The landscape is organized around meditation paths, lotus ponds, and gardens that create different zones for walking and reflection.
The park was established in 2010 to commemorate Buddha's birth anniversary in the Buddhist calendar. The site was previously occupied by Bankipur Central Jail before being transformed into this spiritual space.
The museum houses Buddhist artworks from Japan, Myanmar, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Thailand that tell the story of Buddha's life through different exhibits. Visitors can spend time exploring these spiritual objects and learning about Buddhist traditions from across Asia.
The park is open daily and visitors should wear comfortable shoes since the grounds are expansive with plenty of walking involved. Shaded areas beneath trees offer relief during hot days.
Two sacred saplings from the Bodhi tree grow within the grounds, sourced from Bodh Gaya in India and Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. These living connections to ancient holy sites hold special meaning for visitors on pilgrimage.
