Motijheel Jama Mosque
Motijheel Jama Mosque, Historical mosque in Jiaganj Azimganj, India.
The rectangular mosque features three hemispherical domes supported by arches and includes four octagonal minarets with bulbous kiosks at each corner.
Nawab Nawaei Muhammad Khan constructed the mosque between 1749 and 1750, as recorded in a Persian inscription embedded in its wall.
The mosque stands as a center for Islamic worship where Nawab Alivardi Khan regularly performed prayers during his governance of Bengal.
Visitors can find the mosque on the western bank of Motijhil lake at coordinates 24.161461 latitude and 88.275581 longitude.
The burial grounds within the mosque compound contain the remains of Ghaseti Begum and Nawab Nawaei Muhammad Khan.
