Tomb of Azimunnisha Begum, Monument of National Importance in Murshidabad district, India.
The Tomb of Azimunnisha Begum stands as a stone structure with arched doorways and intricate carvings located in the garden surroundings of Azimnagar.
Built in 1757, this tomb houses the remains of Azimunnisha Begum, daughter of Murshid Quli Khan and wife of Shuja-ud-Din Muhammad Khan, Bengal's second Nawab.
The architectural design combines traditional Mughal elements with regional influences, featuring underground burial chambers similar to her father's final resting place.
The tomb sits 5 kilometers from Hazarduari Palace, with regular transportation services connecting visitors to other historical structures in the Murshidabad district.
Local records indicate that Azimunnisha Begum constructed a mosque in 1734, which later succumbed to river erosion, leaving only fragments near the tomb site.
