Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi

The park extends across 44,000 hectares of the northern slope of Orobic Alps, reaching from Monte Legnone to Aprica Pass with elevations between 850 and 3052 meters.

The establishment of Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi in September 1989 marked a significant step in preserving the natural heritage of northern Lombardy region.

The park contains thirty-two mountain shelters where visitors connect with local mountain traditions while exploring the surrounding alpine environment.

Visitors access the park through multiple entry points and can follow the Gran Via delle Orobie, a 130-kilometer marked path that crosses the entire mountain range.

The park houses rare plant species including the Valtellina sanguisorba and violet Comollia, along with previously thought extinct varieties of mosses and lichens.
