Pizzo Redorta, Mountain peak in Lombardy, Italy

Pizzo Redorta is a mountain peak in the Orobie Alps with rocky terrain and alpine meadows spread across its slopes. The summit offers open views of surrounding mountain terrain and valleys below.

The first ascent was made in 1830 by a group of Austrian cartographers carrying out topographic surveys. At the time, miscalculated elevations on contemporary maps led people to believe Pizzo Redorta was the highest peak of the Orobie. On 28 September 1877 Antonio Curò, president of the CAI Bergamo, set out to settle the question; after a night at the hut that later became Rifugio Ca' Brunona, he reached the summit on 30 September and measured Pizzo Coca as 18–20 m higher.

The name Redorta comes from the Latin Rotundus, likely referring to the sharp bend the Seriana valley makes at the mountain's foot. The peak is also called Ol Redorta in Bergamasco. Climbers still follow the route up the left side of the jump at the valley head and across the Scais glacier, marked by cairns from the bocchetta to the summit.

The normal route starts at Fiumenero in the upper Seriana Valley, follows the trail north toward the Valle del Salto, then turns right to Rifugio Baroni al Brunone; it is easy to the Piani del Campo and steepens near the refuge. From there take the high path along the south side, the Sentiero del Simàl, then head north to the Scais glacier. The route crosses the glacier and climbs the fixed rope east of the central rock; from late June to mid-July a snow-filled gully above the notch shortens the ascent. The rock is poor and loose, so watch for falling stones, especially on the descent. A second approach starts at the Vedello power station in Piateda, Sondrio, via Lago di Scais and Rifugio Mambretti.
