Construction of Santa Teresa degli Scalzi started in 1666 under architect Jacopo Antonio Pozzo and continued until 1750, with the facade completed later.
The main altar presents an Annunciation painting by Antonio Balestra, depicting God the Father in Glory above the central religious scene.

The monastery buildings connected to the church transformed into a prison in 1883 following Napoleon's suppression decree of 1806.
