San Luca

San Luca is a Baroque church in Verona with a stone facade completed in 1675 and a bell tower added in 1760. Inside, the space contains several chapels and altars decorated with detailed artworks and architectural elements from the 18th century.

The church was founded in 1172 and originally served a religious community known for its charitable work. It was converted into a parish church in 1808 after political changes dissolved the earlier religious order.

The name comes from Saint Luke, and visitors can still see various artistic works from the 18th century displayed throughout the chapels inside. The frescoes and paintings show religious scenes that reflect the spiritual life of that era.

The church sits on Corso Porta Nuova, a main street in the city, making it easy to find and access on foot. You can visit during the day and explore the interior at your own pace.

The building had to be partially demolished in 1874 to make room for street widening in the surrounding area. This intervention even affected the main altar and left a permanent mark on how the facade looks today.
