Teatro Filarmonico, Opera house in Verona, Italy
The Teatro Filarmonico features marble columns, ornate decorations, and red velvet seats across its 1,200-capacity auditorium, following traditional Italian theater design principles.
Francesco Galli Bibiena designed this theater, which opened in 1732 with Antonio Vivaldi's La Fida Ninfa and underwent reconstructions after a 1749 fire and 1945 wartime damage.
The theater maintains a winter season program of classical performances, presenting Italian operas, international melodramas, orchestral concerts, and ballet productions throughout the year.
The Teatro Filarmonico offers guided tours during daytime hours, allowing visitors to explore the main hall, backstage areas, and learn about its architectural elements.
During its reconstruction after World War II, workers carefully replicated the original 18th-century design, including specific acoustic properties of the performance space.
