The Domus Tiberiana spans across the northern section of Palatine Hill with multiple levels of architectural structures and connecting corridors.
Emperor Tiberius established this residence in the first century AD, which later expanded under Caligula and underwent substantial renovations during Domitian's reign.
The palace complex contained an imperial archive and library, reflecting the administrative and intellectual functions of Roman imperial governance.
Visitors can access the archaeological remains through the Roman Forum entrance, with guided tours available to explore the excavated sections.
The palace features eighteen rectangular chambers with barrel vaults, containing third-century painted ceilings depicting various figurative scenes.
