Cornaget, Mountain summit in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy

Cornaget is a 2,323-metre summit in the Chiarescons-Cornaget-Resettum chain of the Carnic Pre-Alps, east of Val Settimana in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Its north crest is reached from Claut via the Rifugio Pussa, Val della Meda, the Bivacco Anita-Goitan at 1,810 metres and Forcella Savalon at 2,140 metres.

The name comes from a medieval term referring to a tax collected on revenues from this area in past centuries. This shows the region had economic importance and organized governance long ago.

The area was home to shepherds and hunters who used traditional routes through the valleys for generations. These old paths still shape how people understand and move through the region today.

The usual route starts at Claut and climbs toward Rifugio Pussa, then up Val della Meda to Bivacco Anita-Goitan at 1,810 m. From there the path continues to Forcella Savalon at 2,140 m before the north ridge leads to the summit. The bivouac serves as a high stopover on the long ascent.
