Cornaget

Cornaget is a summit in the Carnic Pre-Alps standing at roughly 2,300 meters in northeastern Italy. It forms part of a mountain chain and can be approached from several starting points with varying degrees of difficulty.

The name comes from a medieval term referring to a tax collected on revenues from this area in past centuries. This shows the region had economic importance and organized governance long ago.

The area was home to shepherds and hunters who used traditional routes through the valleys for generations. These old paths still shape how people understand and move through the region today.

Access to this summit requires solid mountain hiking experience and good physical fitness. The best time to visit is during the warmer months when snow and ice do not cover the terrain.

The area features a deep gorge called Ciol de Cornaget that draws climbers with advanced skills. The steep rock walls offer complex climbing routes in remote wilderness far from crowds.
