Rifugio Città di Carpi, Mountain hut in Auronzo di Cadore, Italy.
Rifugio Città di Carpi is a mountain shelter at 2110 meters elevation in the Cadini di Misurina range, offering lodging, meals, and refreshments for climbers and hikers. The building provides sleeping rooms and a dining area where guests can rest and eat before or after their mountain activities.
The shelter was built in 1969 by the Carpi section of the Alpine Club and opened in September 1970. Since 1992, the Molin family has managed it and it has become an established stop for mountain travelers in the region.
The refuge bears the name of Carpi, a town in Modena province, embodying the tradition of Italian mountain shelters that welcome hikers with lodging and meals. Visitors experience here a lived culture of hospitality that shows itself in daily routines and how guests are treated.
The refuge is accessible via Trail Nr. 120 from Lake Misurina, a route that passes through mountain forest and alpine meadows. The path is well marked and offers views of the surrounding peaks, making the hike varied and visually interesting.
The building operates on solar power with a 6-kilowatt photovoltaic system, giving it a very low environmental footprint for a location at this altitude. This self-sufficiency with renewable energy makes the stay an example of how people can live sustainably in high mountain settings.
