Dôme de Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto

The neoclassical basilica features a grand central dome measuring 16 meters in diameter, adorned with eight windows and decorative elements representing the four Evangelists.

Construction of the current church began in 1932 under engineer Francesco Barbaro, replacing an earlier 1606 structure damaged by the 1908 Messina earthquake.

Three bronze doors at the entrance display detailed scenes from Saint Sebastian's life, created by different artists during the late twentieth century.

The basilica stands in Piazza Duomo facing Via Roma, making it the largest church in Barcellona and second largest in Sicily after Messina Cathedral.

Following local tradition, devotees throw chickpeas at the statue of Saint Sebastian as an expression of their religious dedication.
