Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church

The church features three naves with lateral chapels, stone entrance portal with linear designs, and a copper-covered bulbous dome above the apse.

The church received its consecration on August 26, 1583, following the establishment of Carmelite monks who arrived from the Holy Land to Sicily in 1117.

The wooden statue of Madonna del Carmine, created by Carmelo Occhino in the late 18th century, leads annual street processions each July.

Located at coordinates 38.14885, 15.22682 in the Serro del Carmine district, the church belongs to the Archdiocese of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela.

The building served as a military hospital after the Battle of Milazzo and later transformed into a civil hospital before its closure in 1866.
