Municipio XIII, Administrative district in northwestern Rome, Italy
Municipio XIII is an administrative district in northwestern Rome comprising six urban zones with distinct characteristics. These areas—Aurelio, Val Cannuta, Fogaccia, Casalotti di Boccea, and Boccea—together form the district's complete territory.
This district was created in 2001 when Rome reorganized its administrative structure, replacing the older circoscrizioni system. A further restructuring occurred in 2013 when the city reduced its number of administrative areas.
The neighborhoods here maintain distinct identities through their local markets and community gathering spaces. People in each zone develop their own routines and social connections within their area.
Services and administrative offices are distributed across the six zones, so knowing which area you need is helpful for navigation. Local government services are typically located in the center of each respective zone.
This district went through a major administrative reshuffling in 2013 that redefined its boundaries and merged surrounding areas. The restructuring significantly changed how the territory is organized and managed today.
