Yarmouk Forest Reserve, Forest reserve in Irbid Governorate, Jordan.
Yarmouk Forest Reserve is a protected area in Irbid Governorate next to Umm Qais with oak forests and diverse wildlife. The reserve covers 20 square kilometers of land maintained for conservation purposes.
The reserve was established in 2010 as a major step forward in Jordan's conservation movement. It followed decades of environmental protection work that had started with earlier reserves in the country.
The reserve creates a space where visitors encounter local craftspeople and their handmade goods in an eco-café setting. This arrangement connects the forest with the surrounding community in a tangible way.
Information about trails and activities is available at the Umm Qais ticket office or through the Royal Society for Conservation of Nature website. Plan your visit by checking these sources for current conditions and available routes.
The reserve protects much of Jordan's remaining oak forest cover and is home to otters, hyenas, wolves, and mountain gazelles. This combination of forest ecosystem and rare species makes it exceptionally important for wildlife conservation.
