Soja, Regional administrative center in Okayama Prefecture, Japan

The city extends across 211 square kilometers of land, encompassing the Takahashi River basin and portions of the Kibi plateau in central Japan.

During the Nara period, Soja functioned as the provincial capital and housed the Bitchu Kokubun-ji temple, marking its status as a regional power center.

The Tsukuriyama Kofun burial mound, ranking as the tenth largest in Japan, stands as evidence of the ancient Kibi Kingdom's presence in this region.

Visitors can reach Soja through the JR West Hakubi Line and Kibi Line railways, or via the Okayama Expressway using the Soja Interchange.

The Kibi Bike Trail connects Soja to Okayama City, letting cyclists pass through rice fields, temples, burial mounds, and peach orchards.
