Mitoyo

Mitoyo extends from the Seto Inland Sea to the Sanuki Mountains, encompassing 222 square kilometers of varied terrain with beaches and forests.

The municipality formed on January 1, 2006, through the consolidation of seven towns in Mitoyo District: Mino, Nio, Saita, Takase, Takuma, Toyonaka, and Yamamoto.

The Shonai Peninsula within Mitoyo marks the origin location of Urashima Taro, a central figure in Japanese folklore about a fisherman and sea princess.

Travelers can reach Mitoyo via Takamatsu Airport, which connects to Haneda International Airport through 70-minute flights, followed by a one-hour car journey.

Chichibugahama Beach creates a natural mirror effect during low tide, reflecting the sky and sunset across its one-kilometer stretch of shoreline.
