Kaneko Station, railway station in Iruma, Saitama prefecture, Japan
Kaneko Station is an above-ground railway station in Iruma, Saitama Prefecture, equipped with two tracks and two passenger platforms. A footbridge connects the platforms, while a staffed station building contains ticket counters and waiting areas.
The station opened on December 10, 1931, originally as part of Japan's national railway system. Following privatization in the late 1980s, it became part of JR East and underwent major modernization, particularly around 2014 and 2015 when a new station building replaced the original wooden structure.
The station takes its name from the former village of Kaneko and remains woven into the daily rhythm of Iruma residents. It serves as a gathering point where commuters, students, and travelers connect before heading to work, school, or other destinations.
The station is easy to navigate with clear signage and straightforward access to both platforms via the footbridge. Staff are available to assist with questions, and waiting areas are maintained and clean.
The station sits roughly midway between Hachiōji and Kawagoe, serving as a key transfer point for passengers combining different routes. Despite its modest size, it functions as a reliable hub within the Hachiko Line network.
