Samegai Station, railway station in Maibara, Shiga prefecture, Japan
Samegai Station is an overtaking station on the Japan Railways Tokaido Line in Maihara. The building sits at street level with two parallel tracks allowing trains to pass each other smoothly.
The station was built during the early development of the Tokaido Line connecting Tokyo and Kyoto. Its design with parallel tracks was planned from the start to handle trains moving at different speeds.
The station is within walking distance from the street and sits directly on ground level. Being an active rail facility, waiting areas and amenities are limited.
