Tsuzuki-ku

Tsuzuki is an administrative ward in northern Yokohama with residential neighborhoods, parks, and shopping streets. The ward covers roughly 28 square kilometers (about 11 square miles) and connects smaller town centers through a network of subway lines and bus routes.

The area once belonged to Tsutsuki District in Musashi Province and was incorporated into Yokohama city in 1939. Three decades later, in 1969, administrative reorganization created the separate ward.

The Yokohama Historical Museum holds objects from the region's past and displays how the area changed over the centuries. Visitors walk through exhibition rooms and see how rural villages gradually became part of the modern city.

Four subway stations—Nakagawa, Center-kita, Center-minami, and Nakamachidai—link the ward to central Yokohama. Buses also run to more remote residential areas not directly on the subway line.

The population has a median age around 36 years, making this ward the youngest among all districts in Yokohama. Many families with small children live here, which shows in schoolyards and playgrounds.
