Tama-Center Station, Interchange railway station in Tama, Japan.
Tama-Center Station is an interchange facility in Ochiai, within the western Tokyo metropolitan area, operated jointly by three railway companies. The station features four elevated tracks with two island platforms that connect several important lines.
Operations began in October 1974 as part of the Tama New Town residential development project. The connection by multiple railway companies grew over the following decades alongside the new town.
The station sits near a theme park focused on Japanese characters and entertainment, drawing many families with children throughout the year. Many travelers use this stop as a starting point for visiting the park or exploring the surrounding residential district.
The station is operated by Keio Corporation, Odakyu Electric Railway, and Tokyo Tama Intercity Monorail Company. Travelers should pay attention to signage, as each company has its own tickets and platforms.
The station records more than 179,000 daily passengers split across the three operating companies. This high traffic makes it one of the busiest interchange points in western Tokyo.
