Namegawa Island Station, Railway station in Katsuura, Japan.
Namegawa Island Station is an unmanned stop on the Sotobō Line serving passengers in both directions. The station has a single side platform and sits roughly 80 kilometers from Chiba Station.
The station opened in 1970 as a seasonal stop for summer visitors to Namegawa Island Amusement Park. After the park closed in 2001, it became a local service stop without express train connections.
The station reflects Japanese railway efficiency through its unmanned operation system, which continues to serve the local community without constant staff presence.
The station serves a small number of daily travelers and operates without on-site staff. Visitors should note that only local trains stop here and ticket machines are available for passengers.
Following the closure of Namegawa Island Amusement Park in 2001, the station discontinued express train services and maintained only local train operations.
