SynergySP, Japanese animation studio
SynergySP is an animation studio in Koganei, a western district of Tokyo, Japan, that produces television series and films for a range of age groups. The studio works with both digital and hand-drawn techniques and is known for adapting manga into animated series.
The studio was founded in 1998 under the name Synergy Japan, with many of its early staff coming from Toei Animation. In 2017, it was renamed SynergySP and became part of Shin-Ei Animation, opening new doors within the industry.
SynergySP has built most of its output around manga adaptations, a format deeply tied to Japanese storytelling traditions. Fans of these series often recognize the studio's work from the careful way it translates printed panels into moving images.
The studio operates as a working environment in a residential part of Koganei and is not open to the public. Those interested in its productions can follow them through anime events or exhibitions held in Tokyo throughout the year.
In 2022, the studio ended a long partnership with Shogakukan, one of Japan's largest manga publishers, shifting away from a relationship that had shaped much of its earlier work. This move freed the studio to pursue projects with a wider range of publishers and creators.
