Odori Park, Urban park in central Sapporo, Japan
Odori Park is a green space running through central Sapporo, made up of separate rectangular sections connected by bridges. The space features multiple tree varieties, flower beds, and open lawns.
The area began in 1871 as Shiribeshi Street, serving as a firebreak between northern and southern Sapporo before being transformed into a park.
The park hosts major festivals like the February Snow Festival, where artists create ice sculptures, and the May Lilac Festival celebrating spring blooms.
The park sits next to Odori Subway Station, connecting to all three subway lines. It is about a ten-minute walk south from JR Sapporo Station.
The bridges connecting each section create interesting transitions between different parts of the space. Many visitors overlook these connections and do not notice how the separate blocks are actually distinct from one another.
