Acty Shiodome, Residential tower in Shiodome district, Japan
Acty Shiodome is a residential tower with 56 floors and 768 apartment units in Tokyo's Shiodome district. The structure combines postmodern design with glass and steel elements, and includes retail shops and medical clinics on its lower levels.
The building was developed by Takenaka Corporation and completed in February 2004 after construction began in December 2000. It emerged as part of the broader urban renewal of Shiodome, a district that underwent major redevelopment in the early 2000s.
The building contains two separate residential sections designed for different living standards: affordable rental apartments in the middle floors and exclusive units above. This split reflects how the neighborhood attracts residents from various backgrounds.
The building sits near Hamamatsucho Station and offers 366 parking spaces and a rooftop helipad. The lower floors contain publicly accessible retail spaces and medical clinics that visitors can explore.
The Yurikamome automated transit line runs along the building's west and south edges, while the JR Yokosuka Line passes directly beneath it. This unusual setting creates an interesting convergence of rail systems around the residential tower.
