Dordoy Bazaar, Central Asian marketplace in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
The market extends over one kilometer with thousands of double-stacked shipping containers serving as retail spaces and storage units.
Established in 1992, Dordoy Bazaar expanded after the decline of wholesale markets in Uzbekistan and became Central Asia's largest commercial center.
The marketplace brings together merchants from Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, and Kazakhstan, conducting trade in multiple languages and currencies.
Visitors can reach Dordoy Bazaar from central Bishkek by taking trolleybus lines 4 or 8, or by taxi for 150-250 som.
The market employs 70,000 people and functions as the main distribution hub for Chinese goods entering Kazakhstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan.
