Seodaemun District, Administrative district in northwestern Seoul, South Korea

Seodaemun District spans 17.61 square kilometers across northwestern Seoul, containing 14 administrative neighborhoods and connecting to Eunpyeong, Mapo, Jung, and Jongno districts.

The district received its name from one of Seoul's four main gates during the Joseon Dynasty, with Seodaemun meaning 'Great West Gate' in Korean.

The Independence Park within the district maintains the Seodaemun Prison Museum, documenting the experiences of Korean resistance fighters during Japanese colonial rule.

The district features extensive public transportation networks, educational institutions like Yonsei University, and commercial areas including the retail centers near Sinchon Station.

Mount Ansan within Seodaemun District contains ancient signal fire stations used for military communications and provides views across Seoul from its summit.
