Batroun District, Administrative district in North Governorate, Lebanon.
Batroun District is an administrative region along the Mediterranean coast in northern Lebanon, featuring citrus orchards and vineyards. The area spans different elevations with traditional stone buildings concentrated in the lower coastal zones.
The region was home to ancient Phoenician settlements and Mediterranean trade activities. Later Roman and Byzantine occupation left traces in local architecture and town layouts.
Stone buildings throughout the district reflect craftsmanship passed down through generations and shape how villages look today. These traditional structures remain an everyday part of the landscape.
The district is connected by bus routes and roads linking Tripoli and other coastal towns. Visitors should plan to travel between different parts of the area using local transport.
Vineyards at higher elevations produce grapes used for regional wine production, an overlooked part of the local agriculture. This hillside wine-growing tradition is less known to visitors than the coastal citrus farms.
