Delft National Park, National park on Neduntivu island, Northern Province, Sri Lanka
The national park covers 1,846 hectares of flat terrain with coral beaches, shallow waters, and semi-arid tropical vegetation including palmyrah trees and dry shrubs.
The Portuguese introduced ponies to Neduntivu island during the 16th century, leading to the development of a distinct wild population that remains in the park.
The landscape contains Portuguese and Dutch colonial structures, along with an ancient temple from the Chola Dynasty period on the western coast.
Visitors reach the park via navy-operated boats departing from Kurikattuwan Naval Jetty, with multiple daily trips covering 14 kilometers of sea in one hour.
The park protects eleven mammal species, one amphibian species, eight reptile species, and serves as a migration stop for numerous bird populations.
