Hassan II Stadium, football stadium to be built in Benslimane, Morocco will be open in 2028
The Hassan II Stadium is a football stadium under construction in Casablanca, designed to hold around 115,000 spectators. The roof features an aluminum lattice shaped like a large tent, while raised gardens and green spaces offer visitors room to breathe.
The government approved public funding in October 2023 after Morocco secured the bid to co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal. Earthworks at the El Mansouria site began a few months later and are now largely complete.
The name honors King Hassan II, who shaped Moroccan life for several decades. The tent-shaped roof recalls the moussem gatherings, where communities meet under large tents to celebrate and share moments together.
The construction site lies in El Mansouria, around 38 kilometers (24 miles) from Casablanca. Earthworks are already well advanced, but access to the grounds will only open to visitors as the next building phases proceed.
The seating tiers at both ends rise steeply in three sections, together holding nearly 60,000 spectators. Along the sidelines, five separate hospitality levels provide space for over 12,000 guests and a royal box.
