Bobotov Kuk

Bobotov Kuk is a limestone peak that rises to 2523 meters and forms a distinctive pyramid shape in the Durmitor range. The summit stands alongside other prominent crests that create a natural amphitheater effect across the northern landscape.

Oscar Baumann, an Austrian cartographer, made the first recorded climb in 1883 and documented the route. Nearly four decades later, the first organized mountaineering group arrived from Zagreb, marking a turning point in exploration.

Serbian botanist Josif Pančić conducted extensive research in the late 19th century, documenting numerous endemic plant species across the Durmitor mountain range.

The route starts from Sedlo Pass and follows a marked trail over rocky ground, with ropes assisting in steeper sections. Most hikers take about six hours for the complete climb and descent.

The Valoviti Do basin below the summit holds snow well into summer months, creating a white patch visible from the approach trail. This happens because the sunken terrain traps and preserves the snow throughout the warmer season.
