Bobbaan, Steel bobsled roller coaster in Efteling, Netherlands
Bobbaan is a steel bobsled coaster approximately 22 meters tall that carries riders through steeply banked turns and dips. The track measures about 500 meters and is ridden in six-passenger cars, with operations suspended during rain for safety reasons.
This coaster opened in 1985 and held the distinction of being the park's steepest ride until Baron 1898 arrived in 2015. Its opening marked an important addition to the park's roster of thrill attractions during that era.
The station building displays Alpine design with traditional Swiss architectural features that transport visitors to a mountain setting. Austrian mountain music playing while guests wait enhances this sense of being in an Alpine environment.
The ride accommodates six passengers per car and handles about 900 visitors per hour. Comfortable shoes are recommended since boarding and exiting happen quickly, and the coaster delivers fairly intense turns throughout the course.
The original attraction was a beloved Swiss bobsled ride that operated for 34 years before closing in 2019. It was replaced by Max & Moritz, a dual-track family coaster that preserved the traditional Alpine station building.
