Max & Moritz, Double roller coaster at Efteling, Netherlands
Max & Moritz is a twin roller coaster at the Efteling theme park in Loon op Zand, Netherlands, where two trains run simultaneously on separate tracks. The courses run side by side and cross paths multiple times as the trains travel in opposite directions.
The ride opened in June 2020 and replaced an earlier bobsled track that stood at the same location. The station building from the previous attraction was kept and still serves as the boarding area.
The name comes from a story by German artist Wilhelm Busch published in 1865 about two boys known for their pranks. Visitors can see how the twin tracks recreate this playful rivalry as trains chase each other in opposite directions.
Children must be at least one meter (39 inches) tall to ride, and those under 1.30 meters (51 inches) need someone aged 16 or older with them. Wait times can be longer during peak season, while quieter days offer shorter queues.
The trains move at around 36 kilometers per hour (22 miles per hour) and can carry up to 1,800 people per hour combined. Each train consists of a locomotive with nine coaches holding a total of 38 passengers.
