Halve Maen

Halve Maen is a pirate ship ride at Efteling theme park that swings back and forth like a real ship rocking on waves. The ship car tilts almost to the horizontal with each swing, creating a thrilling motion.

The ride opened in 1982 and was one of the largest pirate ship swings in the world at that time. A Swiss manufacturer created the attraction to draw younger visitors to the park.

The ship mimics a Dutch East India Company merchant vessel, bringing maritime heritage into the theme park experience. Visitors can feel Dutch seafaring tradition while enjoying the ride.

The ride takes just a few minutes per cycle and tends to draw crowds during morning and afternoon hours. Riders should wear comfortable shoes and secure any loose items, as these may fall during the swing.

When it opened, the ship held the record as the world's largest pirate ship ride and was recognized in the Guinness Book of Records. The title lasted for several years before other parks built even bigger versions.
