Python, Steel roller coaster in Efteling, Netherlands
Python is a steel coaster at the Efteling amusement park in Loon op Zand, Netherlands. The track forms a circular course and takes riders through sharp turns that climb upward before diving into the loops.
This coaster opened in the spring of 1981, bringing a new type of ride to Efteling. It arrived at a time when the park was expanding its offerings for older visitors.
The double loops on this coaster were among the first ones visitors could ride in the Netherlands. They still draw guests looking for the classic feeling of being turned upside down through steel tubes.
Children must be at least 1.20 meters (about 4 feet) tall to ride, and a separate queue for solo travelers shortens waiting time. Backpacks and loose items should be stored in lockers at the entrance.
The entire structure was taken apart in 2018 and rebuilt from scratch while keeping the old shape and course of the track exactly the same. This approach is extremely rare for coasters.
