Pegasus, Wooden roller coaster at Efteling theme park, Netherlands
The roller coaster stretched 492 meters in length, reaching speeds of 55 kilometers per hour with eight descents and nine ascents throughout the track.
Opening on July 1, 1991, Pegasus became the first wooden roller coaster in the Benelux region, setting a precedent for future theme park attractions.
The attraction derived its name from Greek mythology's winged horse, born from Poseidon and Medusa, symbolizing divine inspiration in ancient stories.
The coaster operated with two train formations of five cars each, accommodating over twenty passengers per ride through its various twists and turns.
The installation used plastic wheels instead of metal ones to reduce noise levels, though this design choice resulted in a more shaking experience.
