Chandannath Temple, Hindu temple in Khalanga Bazar, Jumla District, Nepal.

Chandannath Temple is a Hindu shrine located in the mountainous Jumla region at roughly 2,514 meters elevation. The complex contains multiple religious structures with shrines dedicated to various Hindu deities positioned at this high-altitude site.

The shrine was established during the Kallala Dynasty when a visitor from Kashmir brought a statue of Dattatreya to this location. This arrival marked the beginning of the site's development as a religious center in the mountains.

The temple serves as a gathering place for the local community during religious observances and seasonal celebrations. Residents maintain their spiritual traditions by regularly visiting to honor the deities housed within.

The temple sits in a mountainous zone, so visitors should prepare for a steep climb and wear appropriate hiking footwear. The best time to visit is during the dry months to enjoy favorable weather conditions.

According to local legend, the temple site was revealed through a miraculous sign when a cow repeatedly offered milk at this exact spot. This event was seen by the community as proof of the place's sacred nature.
