Dakneshwori Temple

Dakneshwori Temple features five pagoda structures with traditional Hindu architectural elements situated at an elevation of 76 meters in Saptari District.

The temple underwent reconstruction during the 1990s, replacing earlier structures while maintaining its status as a significant religious site in southeastern Nepal.

The temple receives thousands of Nepali and Indian pilgrims during Bada Dashain festival, where goat sacrifices form part of the religious ceremonies.

Visitors can reach the temple using local buses or taxis from nearby urban areas, with spring and autumn offering the most suitable weather conditions.

Stone inscriptions at the temple site document its history, while the name Dakneshwori translates to the goddess who resides in the south.
