Bonifacio Global City, Central business district in Taguig, Philippines
Bonifacio Global City is a business district in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, that combines glass-and-steel office towers, residential complexes, and shopping galleries across 240 hectares. Wide sidewalks run through blocks planted with low trees and open plazas that hold benches and occasional sculptures.
In 1995, Bonifacio Land Corporation started converting a former military compound into a commercial urban district under an agreement with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority. Within two decades, residential towers, office buildings, and shopping centers grew on the land that once held barracks and training fields.
The area takes its name from Fort Bonifacio, a former American military installation named after Andrés Bonifacio, a hero of the Philippine Revolution. Streets are named after Philippine provinces and cities, so visitors walking around encounter signs such as Rizal Drive or Mindanao Avenue.
Visitors reach the area via major roads such as EDSA and C-5 Road, which connect it to other parts of Metro Manila. An internal bus system runs between residential towers, office centers, and train stations for those covering longer distances within the district.
Track 30th and Terra 28th are two parks with running tracks, workout equipment, and lawns where residents jog or practice yoga early in the morning and in the evening. These green strips interrupt the dense high-rise blocks and provide space for community events and informal sports groups on weekends.
