Taguig

Taguig is a highly urbanized city in Metro Manila that spans several barangays and connects modern business districts with older residential areas. The city borders Pasig, Makati and Parañaque, and sits partly along the eastern shore of Laguna de Bay.

The area evolved from a fishing settlement into an urban center starting in the 1990s after military installations were converted into commercial spaces through the Bases Conversion Act of 1992. The transformation focused on Bonifacio Global City, which emerged from the former Fort Bonifacio.

The Manila American Cemetery within Taguig honors soldiers who served during World War II, making it the largest American military cemetery in the Pacific region.

The BGC Bus, jeepneys and taxi services provide access to the main districts within the city, with several major roads linking it to other parts of Metro Manila. Pedestrian zones in Bonifacio Global City are easier to explore during the day, while older neighborhoods have narrower streets and fewer sidewalks.

Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill replicates Italian waterways with gondola rides and European-style architecture. The complex emerged as a response to growing demand for themed leisure destinations within the metropolis.
