Sahiwal

Sahiwal is a city in Punjab situated between the Sutlej and Ravi rivers. The Lower Bari Doab Canal system supports farming of wheat, cotton, tobacco, and other crops across the surrounding region.

The city was founded through the establishment of a railway station on the Karachi-Lahore line in 1865, originally named Montgomery. The railway connection shaped its development as a trade center in the region.

The city maintains strong connections to the ancient Indus Valley civilization through its proximity to Harappa, located 18 miles southwest.

Visitors should prepare for a warm, dry climate, especially during summer months. The best time to visit is winter, when temperatures are more pleasant and weather conditions are favorable for exploring.
