Yukshin Gardan Sar, Mountain summit in Hunza District, Pakistan.
Yukshin Gardan Sar is a mountain in the Hispar Muztagh range, rising to 7,530 meters above sea level. Its northwestern and northeastern flanks are covered by two major glaciers, with steep snow slopes forming the primary terrain.
The first successful ascent took place in 1984 when an Austrian-Pakistani expedition led by Rudolf Wulzer reached the summit via the South Ridge. Two more documented climbs followed in 1985 and 1986, after which mountaineering activity on the peak ceased entirely.
Local residents of the Shimshal Valley maintain their own traditional naming system for the peaks, referring to Yukshin Gardan Sar differently from international designations.
The climbing season runs from May through August when conditions are most favorable. Expeditions require careful planning and extensive logistics to transport equipment over long distances to base camp and higher camp locations.
This peak remains largely overlooked in international climbing circles despite ranking among the world's highest mountains. After the third documented ascent nearly 40 years ago, it has received no further mountaineering attention.
