Nowshera District, Administrative district in Peshawar Division, Pakistan.
Nowshera District is an administrative area in Peshawar Division comprising three tehsils: Nowshera, Jehangira, and Pabbi. The region combines river systems, farmland, and urban centers into a mixed landscape.
The area became an independent district in 1988 after being part of Peshawar as a tehsil. This separation was a key administrative change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The area is home to Pashtun communities including the Durrani, Khattak, and Yousafzai tribes, who speak Pashto and maintain traditional ways of life. These groups shape daily interactions and local customs throughout the district.
The district is well connected by National Highway 5 and the M-1 motorway, linking it to other Pakistani cities and international trade routes. These main roads make travel through and beyond the region straightforward.
The district is home to higher education institutions including the University of Technology and Nowshera Medical College. These schools make it a learning center for the province.
