Hladké sedlo, Mountain pass between Poland and Slovakia in High Tatras.
Hladké sedlo is a mountain pass in the High Tatras at approximately 1993 meters elevation, situated between two peaks. It serves as a crossing point between valleys on either side of the Slovakia-Poland border for hikers traveling through the range.
The first documented crossing of this pass occurred in 1827 when a mountaineer and guide traversed between two valleys on opposite sides. Later mountaineering development improved the route to make it more accessible for hikers.
The Tatra Society developed a path from Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich across the pass to Zawory in 1889, establishing a significant mountaineering route.
The terrain is demanding and requires mountain hiking experience along with proper equipment. Access to the Polish side is restricted, while the Slovak side is reachable via marked trails.
The pass serves as a natural corridor for mountain wildlife such as bears and deer moving seasonally. Hikers may observe animal movements through this mountain area during spring and autumn months.
