Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, branch of Weill Cornell Medicine in Doha, Qatar
Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar is a branch of Cornell University located in Education City, Doha, offering medical degrees to both high school and university graduates. The campus includes lecture halls, laboratories, simulation centers, and clinical training facilities where students combine classroom work with hospital experience.
The college was founded in 2001 through an agreement between Cornell University and the Qatar Foundation, making it the first medical school in the country. It was also the first coeducational higher education institution in Qatar, opening the doors of university study to men and women on equal terms.
The college draws students from many different countries, making English the common language of daily life and study on campus. Walking through the buildings, you notice a mix of backgrounds and traditions that shapes how students interact and approach their work together.
The campus sits within Education City and is clearly signposted, but visitors should check access conditions in advance since it is an active academic site. Traveling outside exam periods gives a better sense of daily campus life, as students and staff are present throughout the facilities.
Although affiliated with Cornell University in New York, the college awards full American medical degrees recognized in the United States without students ever having to leave Qatar. This makes it one of the very few places in the world where a complete American medical degree can be earned outside US soil.
