Curtea Veche Church, Historic Orthodox church in Lipscani quarter, Bucharest, Romania.

Curtea Veche Church is a place of worship in the Lipscani quarter built in the Brâncovenesc architectural style. The structure features a cross-shaped design with a stone entry portal, vaulted ceiling, and a dome that defines the interior space.

The church was commissioned in the 16th century by a ruling prince and served the princely family as a place of prayer. It later became a testimony to the religious architecture of an entire era.

The church takes its name from the ancient princely residence that once occupied this area and shows frescoes linking different periods of its past. The interior spaces preserve traces of artistic work created across multiple centuries.

The building can be accessed near the Lipscani area. It is wise to check opening hours in advance and prepare for the interior to have less natural light than some other spaces.

The building is the sole surviving temple from a complex of four churches that once surrounded the princely residence. This rare survival makes it an extraordinary witness to the past.
