Chelyabinsk Oblast

Chelyabinsk Oblast extends across 88,900 square kilometers of diverse landscapes, from mountain ranges to lowlands, with elevations reaching 1,406 meters above sea level.

The region transformed into a major industrial center during World War II, with Magnitogorsk producing one-third of Soviet steel and Chelyabinsk specializing in tank manufacturing.

The region contains three national parks, numerous theaters, museums, and the Arkaim archaeological site, displaying the heritage of ancient civilizations.

The oblast connects to Kazakhstan through a 2,750-kilometer border and maintains extensive railway networks linking European Russia to Siberian territories.

In 2013, a meteoroid explosion over the region created a shockwave that injured 1,500 people and damaged buildings across six different cities.
