Olyokminsk

Olyokminsk sits on the left bank of the Lena River at 150 meters elevation, surrounded by flat terrain and thick forests. The town has a river port and an airport that connect it to surrounding regions.

Russian Cossacks founded this settlement as a fortified outpost in 1635, and it later became a district administrative center in 1738. This early military presence shaped the town's role as a regional hub.
